If you care about conservation, then invest in an afternoon tea that helps support the rehabilitation of turtles. Jumeirah Group has launched Thé À La Mode, an initiative that will see us partner with cultural and fashion icons to create a new afternoon tea themed around contemporary talking points.

Supporting sustainability

Our first collaboration, Turtle Tea by Idriss B, will highlight the importance of sustainability. Jumeirah Al Naseem’s Turtle Rehabilitation Sanctuary, which nurses turtles back to health before they are released back into the wild, inspired the concept. The goal of the new tea is to draw attention to turtle conservation and raise funds for the rehabilitation programme, so for every Turtle Tea by Idriss B, Jumeirah Al Naseem will make a contribution to the sanctuary. You can also scan QR codes to learn more about our work with sick or injured sea turtles. The tea is served on the shell of a chrome sculpture of a turtle, so with every bite you can keep in mind the turtles' plight.

A work of art

The tea is a collaboration between Al Mandhar Lounge in Jumeirah Al Naseem and the Dubai-based French-Tunisian artist, Idriss B, known for creating angular, polygonal installations of wildlife such as mammoths, bears and sharks, as well as a man-sized falcon and a three-and-a-half metre gorilla. His works have been displayed in Dubai Mall, Dubai Design District and Dubai International Financial District, as well as across the UAE. Idriss B’s latest work is nine polygonal turtle sculptures made from 125kg of recycled and eco-friendly material on 40 3D printers. Look out for a white turtle sculpture displayed in our lobby, a shoulder-height sculpture made from silver chrome that’s set on the beach and another sculpture in Turtle Lagoon.

Sweet and savoury

Pastry Chef Julien Jacob has created a vegan afternoon tea mostly from locally sourced ingredients, which is served alongside loose-leaf tea or coffee. Start by nibbling on savoury dishes such as truffle cream cheese tart, avocado tacos and beetroot ravioli, as well as toast spread with moutabal – a blend of tahini and smoky aubergine – and muhammara, a spicy red pepper dip. Desserts include pavlova made with exotic fruit; a coconut and chocolate sphere; a pecan, caramel and milk chocolate mousse and a pistachio and citrus sweet. You can also sample raspberry kunafa, a traditional Middle Eastern dish made with filo pastry stuffed with cheese, soaked in honey and scattered with crushed pistachios.
